Taking advantage of ways to involve the audience

The other week, I was at a big, two-day conference. Hundreds of people were there and the venue was a dedicated conference centre with whizzy technology and all the latest gizmos for audience participation you could want. But what struck me was how little advantage most conference speakers took of the tools available to them to make a bigger and better impact on the audience.

Presenting messages in a visual way through slides or video backs up what speakers say and improves audience understanding and retention by as much as four times.
